As you may know, I’m a sucker for a good case of #girlpower. In fact, as I sit here writing this blog post, Spotify is playing my Girl Power Playlist on repeat. I want to take a minute this week to talk about some of my favorite gals, and why they serve as such an inspiration. Not only are these girls smart, they’re confident and beautiful. They know the true meaning of girl power.
Beyoncé. Of course, Queen B is at the top of the list. Not only is B a cool mom, she’s a killer performer, and her and Jay Z are #goals. She’s got an amazing voice, and an amazing message. One of the most powerful women in Hollywood, Bey runs her own world.
Emma Watson. Not only is she #WCW every day, Miss Watson is an inspiration to girls everywhere. Recently, Emma joined the He for She Campaign to promote gender equality. She may just be the finest feminist the world has ever known.
Angelina Jolie. She may or may not be the luckiest woman in the world with a husband like Brad, but that’s not what makes her so great. “Find who you are in this world and what you need to feel good alone. I think that’s the most important thing in life. Find a sense of self because with that, you can do anything else.” Yeah, she knows what she’s talking about.
Taylor Swift. She’s adorable, she’s got an amazing voice, and she’s got an elite squad. From Selena Gomez to Karli Kloss, Taylor’s got friends all over the world, and she’d do anything for them (like let them star in her music videos and crash her concert). Taylor reminds us constantly that good friends are one of the most important things in life. Where can I apply to be Taylor’s BFF?
Bethany Hamilton. We all know this girls story—if Soul Surfer didn’t make you cry you’re probably lying. She is beyond brave, and a major inspiration to girls everywhere. Also, she just became a mom, so there’s that too.
Malala Yousafzai. This girl doesn’t get enough credit. She isn’t a movie star, or a superstar singer, but an 18-year-old activist for female education. Malala is the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and if that’s not girl power, I don’t know what is.
These ladies remind us how important it is to be ourselves and be fabulous. Us girls have to stick together and support each other.
Who run the world? Girls.
